Who We Are

SHD are a Dublin based Structural and Civil Engineering Consultancy who deliver practical and creative engineering solutions with a hands-on approach to empower our clients to build better.

We pride ourselves on providing a prompt service with buildable and cost effective designs, our flexible design led approach provides and excellent services to Clients, Architects and Contractors alike.

Established in 2018, SHD Consulting Engineers Ltd. is a Dublin based specialist engineering consultancy providing a professional service in the field of Structural & Civil Engineering Design.

At SHD we pride ourselves on developing cost effective, project specific solutions for the Irish construction industry, working closely Architects, Property Developers, Local Authorities, Government Bodies, Commercial Organisations and Private Individuals.

SHD is a private held directorship with over 250 projects successfully completed to date. Our primary resource is a skilled, dedicated and experienced workforce. Our policy and aim is to achieve and maintain the highest professional and technical standards in our work.

MEET THE TEAM

Barra Kelly

Barra is a Chartered Engineer and holds a Masters Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil & Structural. He has 15 years’ experience in the construction industry in Ireland & abroad working on multi-disciplinary design teams providing engineering, management, operations, and construction services, working on medium-large scale projects.

He has a track record of designing and managing complex projects for global multinational organizations in Civil Infrastructure, Data, Oil & Gas sectors as well as Commercial & Residential.

He has extensive experience in leading engineering teams for projects delivering projects up to £50 million both nationally and abroad.

Sean O’Shaughnessy

Experienced Civil & Structural Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the engineering and construction industry. Skilled in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Project Managing. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) focused in Civil Engineering from Technological University Dublin.

Craig Cowley

Craig graduated from Dundalk IT in 2018 with a Degree in Civil Engineering. He is currently a graduate member of Engineers Ireland and working towards his chartership.

Craig experience ranges from house extension & new builds to apartment blocks.

Hilary Howard

Hilary is experience with the administration and commercial management from medium to large construction companies in Dublin.

Hilary manages business development and commercial management with SHD.

Our Story So Far

SHD are a young consultancy established in 2018 by Barra Kelly. Barra had a specific vision and set of standards that he was passionate about embedding in a high-quality engineering consultancy practice.

At the core of was a commitment to excellence and a commitment to innovation within the engineering arena as we know it. To make this vision a reality, Patrick set his focus on building a team around him that were committed to this same vision and who also shared his specific values.

SHD proudly maintain a strong family ethos in all our operations across various business areas. There is a real and vested personal interest taken in all aspects of our daily work to make sure that our reputation remains intact and in high regard throughout the industry for many more years to come.
